Geography Deep Dive #EIF2019
Hi Paul,
We had Ofsted a couple of weeks back- came in on two days with a team of 3. Several meetings with SLT on general running and policies they have etc. Wanted evidence of everything. Those depts involved with deep dive had HOD interviews, focus on curriculum pathways and how they impact to planning and structure in the future. How we as teachers meet our Pupil premium needs. Deep dive was a maximum of 20 min observation within dept- inspectors made notes, spoke to students and looked at work. We all produced context documents, along side slides of lessons and seating plans. Selected 4 students mainly pp to be invited for a group chat with the inspectors. Books taken for work scrutiny with HOD. Teachers involved with DeepDive also interviewed for about half an hour in a group setting. You had to be very confident with where your curriculum was going and how it overlapped from ks3-ks5.
Generally a good experience but as one knows if you have consistency, know the kids and your curriculum you are ok.

Hello,
This is very useful. I am the Head of Geography at my school. I am researching and preparing for a potential future deep dive in my department. I’d love to talk to you about your experiences of the deep dive.
Many thanks
Thomas
HI Thomas. I’m @paulgarvey4 on Twitter if that helps! Glad you found it useful. Sorry I’m late with the reply. I don’t really use my website much!
