“Ministers……..are to claim schools will be protected from across-the-board cuts”

That’s not exactly a promise that schools will not escape cuts, is it?
It’s the effect of the proposed “pupil premium” which is said will provide extra spending on the most deprived children – but there may well be an 80,000 increase in school rolls due to immigration over the next 4 years. Nothing is clear…….yet. The spending review (next week) and the White Paper should be out soon to give more clarity.
