Heads and Principals calling for a regrade. I do feel it’s the only fair way. If mark boundaries are to be changed, do it at least before the start of the year, preferably before the start of the course and not mid-year. it’s not just difficult for schools whose results have fallen, but there are many pupils in schools whose results have risen, who are in exactly the same boat. It is iniquitous for schools and wholly unfair on pupils. I was talking to a headteacher of a school today whose overall results have risen sharply, but she still has a significant number of pupils who missed a grade C by only a few marks and who would have passed, had those same marks been submitted in January. The school’s results would have thus been even higher and the pupils that have missed out on a C still have the difficulty of applying for other sixth forms and further education colleges. this is not just statistics; this is individual lives.
