Back from an inspection to find the list of quangos abolished by the Govt. It includes QCA (or QCDA, as it had become) and its functions will be transferred to the DfE – whatever that means. Will there be any real difference? I really don’t knowa and I suspect the differences will be few . The GTC will be abolished, so perhaps no more annual fees? Ofsted will stay, but there will be changes to the current framework – TBA in the coming white paper, but the SEF will go (it wasn’t statutory anyway, but the format will go – and how will schools assess themselves now, for a wider audience?).
