It looks like a debacle. HT’s and Principals are rightly up in arms and I agree with them. You just can’t change the mark boundaries mid-year. The exam boards will be snowed under with appeals. If your school, or college has done well elsewhere, make a strong argument via your self-evaluation that your lowered English results are an anomaly. If English results have been maintained, or have actually increased in the face of this, terrifically well done and again, demonstrate that excellent improvement above and beyond the actual figures, because of the marking, through your self-evaluation. Painting the best picture you through your self-evaluation is the absolute key to presenting your school in it’s best light for Ofsted.

One HT I support summed it up beautifully: Mr Gove shoots at Ofqual, Ofqual shoots at the exam boards, exam boards shoot at the kids. Unacceptable.
